Today's Research, Tomorrow's Solutions.

Radial Research and Development Ltd (Radial R&D) is an engineering services firm conducting basic and applied research for U.S. government and industry partners. We specialize in novel signal and data processing algorithms for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) with special emphasis in radar, ladar, digital communications, radio navigation, and related technologies. In addition to research and development (R&D) services, we provide studies and analysis, modeling and simulation (M&S), software development, aerospace and electronic system development, and flight test.

Radial R&D is located in Fairborn, OH near Wright-Patterson AFB. Over ninety-percent of our technical staff have advance degrees in engineering, mathematics, or the physical sciences. Radial R&D is a small business under NAICS codes 541715 (primary) and 541330 (other).

What we do

Concept to Demonstration

Signals

Our engineers, mathematicians, and computer scientists work from first principles to develop digital signal processing, statistical signal processing, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms for problems involving time series data, array data, image data, and more. In short, we find signals in noise and information in data. Example applications include synthetic aperture radar (SAR), ground/air moving target indication (G/AMTI), synthetic aperture ladar (SAL), direct-detect lidar, signals intelligence (SIGINT), digital communication, position, navigation, and timing (PNT), automatic target recognition (ATR) and electronic warfare (EW).

Sensors

We support advanced sensor development activities with a special emphasis on novel concepts of operation (CONOPs) and novel modes of operation. Our activities include CONOP development, requirements generation, and modeling and simulation (M&S). We use a mix of statistical modeling and high-fidelity signal-level simulation to predict system performance in relevant scenarios. This work serves as a basis for algorithm development, system development, and flight test activities.

Flight

Radial R&D conducts airborne data collections and flight tests involving commercial and military aircraft operating at CONUS and OCONUS military installations. Our subject matter experts (SME) can identify key performance parameters (KPPs) and test objectives, design flight tests to meet test objectives, write test plans, create flight test cards, work with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) designated engineering representatives (DERs) and designated airworthiness representatives (DARs) to oversee aircraft modifications, obtain flight test plan (FTP) / technology review board (TRB) / safety review board (SRB) approval, and conduct flight tests as ground and air operators. We can provide turnkey solutions for airborne data collection and flight test needs.
